An in-depth guide to creating a WordPress eLearning course with an LMS plug

Let’s say you want to create a website where you can add courses on any topic, and anyone on the internet could get this course and start learning. In these courses, you can create different lectures such as audio lectures, video lectures, podcasts, etc. You can also create quizzes such as true or false, fill in the blanks, multiple-choice, etc. You could also be able to create certificates for children.

If you want to sell online courses through your WordPress development services, you would need a plugin to help you manage everything and integrate it with your favorite tools.

Choosing the right plugin

Choosing the right plugin:

This must be the first step, as the plugin will allow you to add all the element features to your website. To create a WordPress LMS plugin site, you must be watchful while choosing the plugins. Some plugins have the premium model, which is a paid model, but they also have some free models. Over here, you will use the tutor LMS (learning management system) plugin. This is because without investing money, it can provide us with many functions.

Installing the chosen plugin:

After you have chosen your plugin, it is time to install it now. First, go to the WordPress admin panel to install your selected plugin. Then from here, go to plugins and then add new (plugins < add new). From there, choose your desired plugin, i.e., the Tutor LMS, and install it. Within some time, you will be able to use your plugin. After you are done installing the plugin, click on activate the plugin to activate it.

Adding a theme:

Before starting with the LMS plugin, you must first add a theme to beautify your site. For this, first, you need to install Tutor Starter. The good news is that the themes here are not just for free but can also coordinate with the LMS plugin (Tutor LMS). This makes the process relatively easier for us. To install Tutor Starter on WordPress, go to the admin panel and find the appearance tab. You can also hire any wordpress development service. Then click on Add New and install and activate Tutor Starter. Before starting, you need to add one more companion plugin to Tutor Starter before using it, which is Tutor Mate. Install it the same way you installed other plugins. Now you are all set up.

From the WordPress admin panel, go to tutor starter and then to starter sites. Here you are provided with four demo starter sites, and you can select as per your desire.

Once you have chosen your site, click on import to import it. Now you have to select your preferred builder. Here we are going to go with Gutenberg. When we try to make this installment, Tutor Starter will download and activate other plugins, such as Woo Commerce, etc., if you are missing them on its own. Finally, if you want to have a look at your site, simply click on ‘view your site.’

To modify your page on WordPress, go to the admin dashboard and click on Customize your site. Then you would be able to customize your backgrounds and many other things.

Adding content:

Now it’s time to add content to your LMS site. First, go to WpAdmin, then Tutor LMS, and click on courses. Then select Add New to proceed with adding courses on your site. Now choose a name for your course, count on the details and the description, and provide any other information if required.

After that, it’s time to add up your resources for the courses you have offered, such as quizzes, lessons, questions, etc. Again, try to make your lessons as interactive and creative as possible. This will help students with practical learning, attracting more and more students to your site and generating more significant revenue.

 Payment method and marketing:

After the initial setup, we need to add up some payment options to earn money. You will have to use Woo Commerce as a payment system to sell your courses online on your LMS site.

Woo Commerce was previously installed with Tutor Starter, as mentioned earlier. You need to activate it now. On Tutor LMS, to activate Woo Commerce first, you need to head on to Dashboard, then go to Tutor LMS, then go to settings, then go to monetization and click on Woo Commerce to enable it.

To sell through Woo Commerce first, you will have to create a product. This could be done simply by going to the WordPress admin panel and clicking on the product tab. Now you can add a name and description for your product. You can even set a price for the product.

Now your final step would be marketing. You must first recognize your target audience and make sure that they know about the courses you are offering. Secondly, you will have to make an advertisement for your product to ensure maximum outreach. Finally, you can even include some discount packages at the start to intrigue more students.

I hope this will help you to create your own LMS site where you can offer your courses. Maybe it would take some time to start generating a handsome amount of money through this, but it is definitely worth a try.
